THE COURSE
Makeup School Sydney is a registered Certificate 2 (WBRF202B) in Apply and Design Makeup. This is an accredited course that must be completed before practicing as a Makeup Artist in the wedding and fashion industry. Makeup School Sydney is widely acknowledged as one of the best in Sydney.
THE TEACHER
The teacher is international Makeup Artist Jay Jay Rauwenhoff. Jay Jay was originally trained in Paris and has since worked for 20 years a beauty Makeup Artist. She is a registered Training Officer with a Certificate 4 in Training and Assessment.
LOCATION
Unit 4, 8 Spring Street, Bondi Junction, NSW 2022.
DURATION
The course runs for 3 hours per week over 6 weeks. Depending upon student preferences, some courses may be during business hours, and others after hours. There will be a special Makeup School exam on the 7th week.
SUBJECTS COVERED
The course covers the following subjects:
An introduction to the profession
Learn about the fashion and wedding makeup industry.
Tools of the trade
Look at the tools you will need for a makeup kit and how to use them.
Skin Analysis
Study the different types of skin and their different makeup approaches.
Facial Correction.
Understand facial structure and colour theory. Learn how to modify and sculpt face shapes by contouring and concealing.
Eye makeup
Study eyes shapes and their correction, and all the elements of eye makeup including eyeliner, mascara and other eye products. Learn how to use different techniques for different occasions.
False eyelashes
Learn about the variety of eyelash products and how to apply them.
Eyebrow design and colour theory
Study the different types of eyebrows and learn to change their shape for different occasions.
Different techniques
Learn the different techniques used in the main shows in Paris (where Jay Jay trained.)
Learn how to create 5 different looks:
• Natural
• Smokey Bardot ( liquid Eyeliner ) 1950”s
• 1920’s (with false lashes)
• Emerald Green/Blue
• The look of your choice from a fashion Magazine.
Makeup for special features.
Understand the differences in facial features and skin tones for different nationalities including Asian and darker skin. Learn how these different skins require different approaches to makeup.
Makeup for bridal and special occasions.
Study all aspects of this lucrative industry.
Client consultation
Learn how to talk to the client.
Business knowledge.
Learn how to promote yourself in all areas of the industry including fashion, bridal, film and television.
Makeup Test
Do a photographic shoot to kick start your portfolio, (after completing the 6 weeks course)
REQUIREMENTS
During the 6 week course, Jay Jay recommends students practice a total of 9 hours outside of Makeup School sessions.
Each student needs to supply her own model to practice on during the 6 week Makeup Course – the model will also be required to assist the student on the exam day.
Makeup School Sydney students may need to buy products for their kit; as recommended by Jay Jay during the 6 weeks.($500 approx).
COST
The course costs $1950 for the full 6 weeks.
There are 6 lessons, each of 3 hrs, over this period. There is a special exam on the 7th week.
A deposit of $250 is payable when you apply and is deducted from the full amount on commencement.
There is also a pay-as-you-go facility.
If a student can not attend the course they can cancel and receive a full refund until 3 weeks before the course commences. After that the deposit is not refundable.
If you refer a friend that starts the same course as you , you will receive a discount of 20% off your course fee. This is great value.
ON COMPLETION
On completion of Makeup Course Sydney students receive a Statement of Attainment which is part of the full diploma. This is a prerequisite qualification for working as a professional Makeup Artist in the fashion and Wedding industry.
Students also receive a Training Manual and 2 large pallets of professional eye shadows and blushers (RRP $100 each).
On completion, students then have the opportunity to acquire work experience by accompanying Jay Jay on jobs in the fashion and wedding industry.
SPECIAL COURSES, LESSONS AND SESSIONS
1 on 1
This is a lesson for one or two people with Jay Jay. Participants learn about their skin type and colouring, and how to make up eyes, accentuate best features, and look professionally made-up.
Jay Jay gives advice on what they have in their makeup kit, what makeup products are on the market and what is best for them.
This is popular as a gift, especially for younger girls who either want an introduction to makeup or a specific look for a special occasion. It can also be taken with a friend.
Session duration: 1 to 1 ½ hours
